Nowadays due to our busy and fast forward life, we miss out to care about our mind and body and most of the time we care about money, just because we and our family can live a good life, but now we need to realise that if we are healthy, our mind is stable and strong then we can easily achieve what we want.
According to Yoga Sutras of Maharishi Patanjali from the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga Pranayama is the fourth limb.
PRANAYAMA means Control of Breath — Prana is “Bioenergy” and Ayama is “control”.
Prana means life and Ayama means control. Pranayama means control of the inner force of human life. The breath we inhale and exhale is regarded as prana, it means bioenergy that provides a person with supreme potential for personal development. Yoga prescribes the various practice of pranayama or control of prana popularly referred to as breathing control. In short, pranayama means control of life force through the act of breathing.
The idea behind this is that our emotional and psychic life is closely related to the flow of bioenergy in one’s body, by doing special breathing techniques one is able to bring feeling and emotion under control.
Usually, your breath in 1 nostril flows more than the other, observing the breathing has great significance in Yogic Shastra. Right nostril is called “Surya Nadi” (Pingala) and Left nostril is called “Chandra Nadi”(Ida), when Surya Nadi is active then body generates heat, the mind is outward – focused, help to digest food, more energy for physical activity. When Chandra Nadi is active, the mind is introverted, work which requires concentration can be done easily, during sleep it flows more. Till the time there is no yogic practice the flow of breath in these two nostrils is involuntary and unconscious.
